Sunday @ 11:00 am
3338 N Broadway St, Chicago, IL 60657
We welcome you to join us for our Sunday Worship Service at 11am.
Please see events page for more details.
We have a small parking lot off of Buckingham to the rear of the church that you are welcome to use when attending church functions. There is also metered parking and street parking nearby, but please note permit parking restrictions. The 36 bus stops near our front door, and we are about a 10-15 minute walk from either the Belmont or Addison el stations. You can get driving directions or public transportation options here. Our building is accessible at both entrances and we have a lift to our basement area. Other questions? Please feel free to contact us at 773-348-3679 or by email!
There’s a first time for everything. If it’s your first time to attend Christian Worship, don’t worry – our welcome is wide, and you’ll be invited to participate as you feel comfortable. You can expect to find people of all kinds, dressed all kinds of ways, worshipping all kinds of ways. Some of us are quiet, and some of us like to clap and raise our hands. We are all ages and abilities, so our morning services have something for everyone.
We believe that Worship is our response to a loving God, which means that everything we do can be considered Worship. When we gather on Sunday morning, we believe that we come to celebrate – our services typically include songs, prayers, readings from and interpretation of Scripture (the Bible). Some Sundays we have special celebrations like the Ritual of Baptism or Reception of New Members.
The first Sunday of the month, we celebrate Holy Communion (also called Eucharist, or The Lord’s Supper) – we practice and “open table,” which means that all are welcome to receive the bread and juice in remembrance of the story of Jesus. As part of our celebration of Holy Communion, we receive an offering of nonperishable food. The local area food pantries and shelters then distribute items. “As we are fed, so we are called to feed.”
Large print hymanls and large print bulletins are available from the ushers.
Please join us for a time of fellowship after the worship service!
By all means we want you to come as your are. One of our main goals here is to make sure you feel comfortable. When you walk through our doors we want you to feel welcomed and loved every single time. We understand that no one is perfect. The only thing we can do is love each other and extend grace.
We would love to answer them!

Our ministry teams document is not static: it is amended throughout the year as we seek to involve every member in ministry.

Are you a Head Cheerleader, Den Mother, Sparkplug, Instigator, Trailblazer, Campaigner, Encourager or Leader with an idea for a ministry? Do you see a place where you’d like to be part of a team? Your ministry is what our fluid structure is ALL ABOUT!
If you are interested in an area, or have a new idea, please contact Rev. Alka or the office.
Broadway is NOT your usual church! It is the essence of John Wesley and Methodism! It strives to be the soul of Jesus in ways that most other UM churches blatantly refuse to follow! And it is the only reason why my soul is alive today. How would you measure this in terms of success? Shalom.
When I approached the topic of "is it okay to call God 'Mother'?" I had a lot of skepticism, which was founded in what I believed I already knew about God (being raised in the traditional patriarchal Christian setting), but after sincerely approaching the topic (per Paul R. Smith's book) I quickly realized that I would be both disrespecting and marginalizing God in all aspects were I continue holding tight to a "masculine-only" definition of God.
We want everyone involved as much as possible. In order to get started please make sure you meet these check points.
Once you pick out a ministry that is best for you these next steps are very important. Please follow these as closely as possible.
Step 3 is the most important of them all! We want to make sure you follow this step through out the entire process even if it is the last step.
